Yes. In Los Angeles the police give a person a voucher for at least one night in a motel and a couple of dollars from Salvation Army. Gets through until you can call mom or a friend.

The next day, the person without funds can go down and file for food stamps and if needed county general assistance. (I imagine that Miami has a similar program. Most cities do.)

I just hope i1der gets repaid quickly. I have been burned a couple of times and am jaded. Still waiting for that $260 I paid the warden to "lose some paperwork" from the La Mesa Prison in TJ to get a Puerto Rican friend out who was doing a year on a drug bust for a joint back in 1982.

Then there is the ex who was wandering around.

Where is your motorbike. (Repossessed.)

5000 baht and 6 months later I remain.... waiting.

i1der if you don't get paid, let's pass the hat around at the next bash for you. Cheers.
