Re: Gary Glitter To Be Released

What World Vision has to say about UK double jeopardy:

Other related issues, which World Vision would encourage the Home Office to consider as it looks at
what can be done to improve efforts to protect children overseas are:
4.1 The application of the principle of double jeopardy only where the offender was
acquitted or fully served the sentence of the court. Currently UK law upholds the principle
of double jeopardy. This says that a person cannot be tried twice for the same offence, so if an
offender has been prosecuted where the offence was committed, he usually cannot be tried again in
his home country for that offence. With the problems of corruption and lack of capacity in law
enforcement and legal agencies in some known destinations for child sex tourists, World Vision
believes revisiting the principle of double jeopardy is necessary.

So GG is on that note, but wouldn't necessarily be if they had their way.
