The original post seems to infer that some polite Thais consider 'farang' to be pejorative and inappropriate. However, I don't think the use of 'farang' can be as impolite to use in Thailand, in front of a foreigner, as the "N word" is for Black Americans. So perhaps it depends on context and how it's inflected. And perhaps various Thais use the term differently.
