In Malaysia, if you work at a language school as opposed to a public school you can expect around 4,000 ringgit a month for salary. Few places offer housing, you normally pay for your own work permit (RM400 for two years). The cost of living is a bit higher, especially if you drink.

The Malaysian government is acutely aware that their teachers in the rural schools have zip for language so you might find something there,but salaries are low.

I know nothing about working in Laos
