Re: Travel to Laos

Laos is good. Luang Prabang is well worth seeing. Vang Vieng is over touristed now. It does make a good halfway stop on the way to Luang Prabang. Pakse, in the far south is nice. Wat Phu is worth seeing. The setting is spectacular. Savanakhet is a pleasant town, not much happening. Muang Khan, in Si Phan Don is pleasant. Again, not a lot shaking. But, that is the appeal of Laos. It is like Thailand must have been about 30 years ago. The people are pretty mellow. I would not count on getting the best directions, however.
