I have two questions. Would appreciate any suggestions. I've checked the internet and not much there.
1. The only way I can seem to run my laptop is without that screwed battery. Now I do live in the sticks and power outages a not unusual. Can someone tell me...if the powe goes out and there is no backup battery what is the worst that can happen?
(or is there a second smaller battery somewhere that kicks in?)...Surely this is not an uncommon occurence...dead battery and AC power outage.
2. If the power goes out, will the machine automatically shut down?
3. Anybody suggest where I might find a replacement LG/IBM battery? I wonder if it's the same battery as the Thinkpad?
Anyway..thanks.

If the power just goes out then it is the same as the power going out on your desktop. About the only worry is if you are having extensive write operations on your disk when the power goes out. You can get disk corruption. But mostly you don't have to worry too much. I am sure some have horror stories, but at my last job we had room full of computers without UPS backup and the only problems we had were from viruses.
