My new home theatre set-up

ok I finally scraped my shekels together and went shopping for a new HDTV and other assorted goodies.

Results:

42" Sanyo HDTV LCD (720p)

new Onkyo Digital Dolby 5.1 surround receiver to replace old Sony Pro-Logic 'surround' receiver(wanted the digital optical audio inputs).

Samsung DVD/VCR Recorder with HDMI upconversion.

damage done:

a little north of 1300 US $ including extended warranty on the TV.

Here's a couple of videos(both from the Comcast HD cable box) with it in action. First one of Big and Rich on the HD Music Channel and the second one of a movie(Day of the Jackal) from the HD channels:

Video of HD Movie - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

will take some regular pics if anyone's interested in seeing more, since these videos are pretty dark and all you can see is the screen. I'm pretty happy so far, even though I did originally want a "Full HDTV" at 1080p...having to buy a new water heater recently nixed that.

More impressed with the audio actually as my old Sony was rated at 100 watts/channel and the new Onkyo is 65 watts/channel, but it absolutely blows the Sony away!

also will take video of the DVD 1080i upconversion in action with a standard DVD if anyone wants to see that...it makes them look pretty good for not being actual HD or Blue-Ray discs.
