New 60 day tourist visa, LAOS?

I have a few questions related to the 60 day tourist visa from Laos.

1) If I travel from Bangkok to Laos and go to the Thai Embassy, is it difficult to get a 60-day tourist visa? I haven't been to Laos before. I prefer getting a 60-day tourist visa vs. a 30-day.

2) If it is possible to get a 60-day tourist visa, what are the approximate costs? I heard there is a cost to enter the country and to obtain the tourist visa. And a need to stay overnight. Just curious what a reasonable amount of money to spend, assuming basic accomodations and transportation.

3) Is it possible to get a double entry 60-day tourist visa from Laos, or is that asking too much.

3) I heard after obtaining the 60-day tourist visa, a language school can convert the 60-day tourist visa to a non-immigrant B in Bangkok, without the need to go to the border. What is the approximate cost for this and who should pay for this (the language school or the teacher).

Thanks
