Lust, caution.
At the opening they were speaking quickly and the subtitles were on rapid fire and it was all I could do to concentrate on them and try to keep up, but after a short while I almost didn't notice that I was reading them. Beautifully filmed, set in 1940s cosmopolitan Shanghai (where farangs are notably employed in some service occupations) under Japanese and collaborator control, this often tense film centres around a resistance plot to kill a leading collaborator. Several graphic scenes of rough sex and nudity might deter the Thai censors. No happy Hollywood ending either. Really enjoyed it.
Well, have you checked out the refurbished Cinema City? Loved it. My new favourite cinema.
