O.P. got my 9th Tourist visa from Vietienne last week. Absoluely no problem. you pay 1500 baht for a Laos visa. go to the thai embassey and submit passport, 2 photoes and a simple form (must submit form 8.30am-11.30am. Best days are usally mid week, Thursday/Friday always busy. Next day you pick it up in 5-10 minutes from 1.00-3.00. Very easy and no documentation neede. Just make sure on your return they stamp for 2 months because sometimes they forget.
