Re: Air Asia Rant

OK, you are right about one thing; it is only 700 km from BKK to HKT. I've never been to Phuket--spending 100 per night on a hotel, and a dollar for a bottle of water isn't my idea of fun. The people I meet going there are generally DisneyWorld type travellers, who have no desire to get to know the real Thailand. Net income is NOT revenue--that is profit. UAL flies 3600 flights per day, even if every plane only had 100 passengers paying 100 usd each, that would generate 3.24 Billion in Revenue per quarter. Cargo is no more than 10% of revenue. Incidentally, cargo requires fuel and security screenings, as well. The people on the ramps are being paid good money. I have checked DHL, and it costs 45 usd to send a letter from BKK to Washington DC.

It sounds like you walked in off the street and bought a ticket at the counter--poor planning on your part. I went to the airasia.com website yesterday and they had tickets from CNX to BKK for 40 thb (taxes about 550). I have flown NOK, and while it was nice; I will go for the one where I can save my dinero.
