Please help spread the word: Phuket is a terrible place. It's really only one big strip of hotels and rip-offs with the only worth while beach being Patong.
I've never spent 3,000 on a hotel room in Phuket and regularly help friends find accomodation for 500-7000 THB. As for drinking water, you can find it for the standard 6THB in just about every convenience store.
But I'm sure breaking your simple stereotypes isn't going to help you. Sorry for blowing down thenice little house of cards your silly generalizations helped to build.
