Yes, interesting read and this statement jumps out at me sitting alone as it is:

"Interpreters who are skilled at translating words do little to build relations or connect individuals on a personal level."

Care to expand, as I also teach and train in this area and have found that a highly trained simultaneous translator can be very effective in connecting people from different cultures and languages across communication channels. In fact, I often point out in my sessions that the selection of the simultaneous translator is a very important one that can spell success or disaster in terms of negotiations. Unfortunately, it is too often missed by many companies and their personnel undertaking business discussions where there is no common language.
