May well?! I think a farang pulling this stunt in Thailand almost confirms it.
As for the other comment, I hardly think the size of Bangkok has anything to do with how long scams carry on. The filth here
are the biggest scammers by far. And they certainly let all manner of con games against foreigners carry on year after year without apparently ever doing anything to stop them.
These Thai monkeys who position themselves at the side of temples (you'd think the apparent disrespect involved would prompt something to be done) and at various skytrain exits (Siam for example) are there day after day, year after year, pulling their scams on gullible first-timers. The scam artists look completely at ease and undisturbed by the fear of getting caught. No doubt the filth take a cut.
