Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Indy 4
I had no problem with the idea of the old fella donning his hat again, as long as the story was good. Weelllll, Ford is initially in pretty good form.
It's formulaic stuff, but it's a pretty good formula. The nuclear blast scene is cool, and seeing him back in the classroom is a nice little sentimental trip for the audience to go on. Jim Broadbent puts in a good performance as well.
Four problems though:
1) Very silly plot that only gets sillier.
2) The baddie played by Cate Blanchett is not sinister enough.
3) Karen Allen can't act anymore. The scenes with her and Ford are really awkward.
4) Ray Winstone's performance was also rubbish. Shit character as well.
So rather unsurprisingly, it's the acting and story that lets it down. The visual effects and camerawork are great.
The next one (you know there'll be a next one) needs to be darker, with less attempts at humour, a male bad guy and no Karen Allen or Ray Winstone.
