Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
I don't go to the cinema and just rely on torrents to watch on my DVD player.
I've downloaded a load of Akira Kurusawa films but can't get the subtitles embedded, so can only watch them on my 'puter. Pity, really, as one of the films I have is RAN which really needs to be watched on a wide screen.
I can also recommend Onibaba by Kaneto Shindō. It's a 1965 film, in black and white, but still hasn't lost it's atmosphere.
On a more recent note, one torrent I downloaded was Stardust. I expected it to be a rather smarmy kid's film but was pleasently surprised. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially to see Robert De Niro as the pirate captain who helps the couple.
He has a secret life which, as one wizened member of the crew commented 'We always knew you were a bit of a whoopsie'.
My daughter, who was over here last month, watched it something like three times, I think then took the disk back with her to the UK for her son to watch.
