Re: FXCM, a bit more serious

im gonna play with the $5000 dollar demo account for a few months before i invest real cash.

8ball- You say go for meduim term but I am not that kinda guy, im definately a day trader, I look for the ups and downs and try to sell high and buy low kinda thing.

The tools I use are:

15 min graph on the gbp-usd
RSI - relative strength index
MACD

basically when the rsi is above 70 and theres a downward trend happening where the 2 macd lines start to cross each other I sell.

IF the RSI is around the 30 mark and theres an upward trend and the macd lines are about to cross I buy.

Its very simple and there dont tend to be so many of these per day but they pay off, only problem is is that u gotta watch the graphs like a hawk..

Tell me ur systems guys

Re: FXCM, a bit more serious

Just downloaded the freeware version of Metatrader, it'll take a few days to learn the language. We'll see how it goes

Re: FXCM, a bit more serious

ajarnsomeday
You don't need to learn the language. The Metatrader platform is one used by a lot of traders because it's free and one of the best. If you are a programmer, you can create your own customised indicators which might help with your trading. I know of some traders who use the MT platform to see what the market is doing but then press buttons to buy or sell on another platform such as Oanda. Oanda is popular because the spreads are very narrow on the main currencies.

Above is a forum which will help you with MT and show you the kind of indicators that some have programmed and which you yourselves can experiment with.

I've been closing out before bedtime and missing out on bigger moves. Left some trades opened overnight with stops in place only find in the morning they got stopped out. Same result each time (closing before bedtime or leaving it run with stops )locking in 500-800pip profit but missing out on another 500-100pips whilst snoozing.

Re: FXCM, a bit more serious

Anyone get caught short on the US Dollar the last few trading days? I see it made a pretty good jump up while I was on the road.
