Re: What to do with $100,000???

Save it for rainy days even if you only get 4.5% interest rates (4,000 USD per year), it's still better than losing it all in some overpriced property or poor business investment.

Most people are too dumb to invest and 99% of individuals doing their own investing can't beat the 5% annual rate of return over their lifetime.

5% per year is actually a great deal for individuals with no investing skills.

You can get 6% at HSBC mate on bond - no risk.

Work on 5% inflation though and its shit

Yes some long term CDs will even get you 7% before witholding tax, but the money is locked for at least 12 months. HSBC might have had some similar deals, but being unresponsive and clueless, I wouldn't put any money in that bank.

Re: What to do with $100,000???

I definitely get some property. You don't need a mortgage if you have $100,000(unless you buy a bubble house in CA). You could tuck it away in investments and let it grow, but interest rates are low and inflation is higher so it might not grow so much...

Honestly, your biggest expense in life will be rent and taxes. If you own your own place, you pay no rent... Just get a house and a job, then when you are bringing home $3000/month, it's all profit(a 36% return). Not really but you get the idea. If you put away $30,000/year, you'll be a homo-wner and have $100,000 again in 3.33 years.

Have a hugeeee spending spree in my favorite shop.

I would also want to buy a beautiful old, quirky, victorian house.

Re: What to do with $100,000???

^ Surely a house like that...unless it was in Wales or right up North....would cost tons over 100K??? It's only around 50,000 Pounds in proper money?

Yes I know, I would be wayyy over budget but that's just a dream.

I'd just invest it in the property market.

Re: What to do with $100,000???

Don't mean to spam the site. I haven't been here for a while, didn't know there was a stock trading section. That's awesome. I'll be coming here every day now.

Just wanted to invite some to check out the trading site I spend every day at: freetradingvideos.com

There are several full time trader/ analyst who do educational videos, and there's a forum of traders. Like the name implies, there is no cost. Really great site, and a great community.
