Re: getting american visa
^ true dat.
I've no idea of anything about your situation, but if she's going for a tourist or fiancee' visa, the burden of convincing the consular officer that she has something to return to Thailand for is necessary. Such things include; owning property (house/condo/land/business)<< in her name!!
It's not easy (this visa business) if you are not married or loaded with cash or both.
Best of luck.

Not true in my experience with a tourist visa. Very straightforward, follow the guidelines, prepare the docs, make your appointment and show up. There is some effort required in assembling the correct docs and making sure you've got all your bases covered, but that's to be expected IMO.
Yes, they have added requirements/hoops in recent years, but if you pay attention and follow directions, you shouldn't have a problem. We followed the instructions to the T, and as it turned out, the officer didn't even look at the majority of our paperwork.

Re: getting american visa
she better be working and able to show income. Hopefully you are here and can help her with the process. Helps if she owns some land as well. The US embassy wants proof she will come back here. Its all done via computer now, save her interview.

Re: getting american visa
My wife got the tourist visa a few years ago for our first trip back to the USA, then got the immigrant visa before our move back. If your in CM, use the consulate there my wife gother tourist visa there and was done in like 30 minutes. even though she isnt from the provinces covered by that consulate we were living in Phitsanulok at the time and qualified for there service there.
land deeds, proof of employment, childrens birth certs, money in the bank, and a letter from a host in the usa. these are the things for the tourist visa. all different for the immigrant.

Eh? Yes, you can arrange your appointment online, but the majority of work involves getting your hard copy docs in order.
There may be Thai land/property and employment databases that the US government can access, but I really doubt it.
It's still mostly done with presenting the required/recommended documents. The GF got her visa in a week after being interviewed, I doubt there was time for a digital record crawl in such a short interval.
There's document checks starting at the main gate - you'll see people getting knocked back at each step for not doing their homework.
FFS, there's even a checklist to follow on the consular website.

Re: getting american visa
good points cc, I was too vague, assuming they would read about all the documentation necessary.

Re: getting american visa
I remember being at the consulate and guys bringing in their Gf's with no paperwork, nothing, expecting a visa. heard things like "im an american, and she's my girl!!!" shocking. the guy doing the interview was asking some of the people really stupid questions sort of taking the piss. luckily the guy that asked my wife one question was really nice and polite, actually spoke thai to her.

Re: getting american visa
He spoke a little Thai with Apple as well. Then he turned to me and kind of gave me a sprinkling of the 10th degree. "She seems great" he seemed to have decided, "Now let's make sure this isn't some asshole trying to fuck around with her!" I can't remember exactly but I think it lasted about 5 minutes.
Thing was we told him our specific plans to go back for about a month for the holidays this year. He didn't giver her an open ended tourist visa - it will expire I think in March or April and it's good for 6 weeks in country. So it's sort of specific to our story. Fine with me, but I don't know - perhaps in the past they were less sort of 'personalized'.
At that point she was unemployed but had good letters of recommendation in English from former bosses.

Re: getting american visa
My wife's visa was valid for 10 years, multiple entry. when she got the immigrant visa it was cancelled.
