Re: Really Nice Move By the US Dollar vs. the Baht

wonder if anyone in the currency trading crowd was able to cash in??

strikes me as an "unseen hand" in operation with a move like that....especially yesterday's move.

Re: Really Nice Move By the US Dollar vs. the Baht

I cashed in nicely on shorting yen pairs but am negative shorting USD against the GBP, however looking at the Dollar Index a correction is due, so no panic .

Re: Really Nice Move By the US Dollar vs. the Baht

IMHO, the USD will only significantly appreciate when the USA becomes serious about energy independent and serious about reducing the federal budget deficit...minor fluctuations will occur in the meantime...

Oil related. If it continues to fall, the dollar will strengthen. I'm really hoping oil bombs this week. Below 100 would be ace

Re: Really Nice Move By the US Dollar vs. the Baht

Hefty change in the Canadian dollar rate as well. I made several thousand Canadian Dollars (on paper anyway) over the last four days. Haven't really been watching the baht that closely. Interesting to speculate. With controls in Thailand I can't see it going more than 34.5 in the near term.

I'm hoping the Greenback continues to gain momentum. Decent CDN-Euro rates now as well.

In the last 2 weeks USD gained a 1000 points against euro, I wouldn't call that minor fluctuation this is a USD correction. Mind you I still don't believe in USD appreciation but other majors are getting seriously hit by their economies so it might a bull time for USD. Who knows only time will tell and we can speculate in the mean time.

Re: Really Nice Move By the US Dollar vs. the Baht

Rule of thumb in markets:: Whenever something becomes conventional wisdom (ie "the dollar is never going to recover") that is exactly the time to do the opposite.
