  1. Phew! We survived the upgrade!

    by on 25th January 2010 at 04:30
It's bloody nerve wracking doing forum upgrades on a site of this size, so it's always a relief when having altereda squillion database tables, and over written the main files on the server that the forum just pops up as if you'd never touched it (albeit strangely coloured). The skin went on like magic and most of the work I had done offline was instantly transformed online.

I appreciate we are not up to speed yet. Still a lot to do, such as make alternative stylesheets, add mods ...

    FUCKING JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!!

They knocked on my door about 40 minutes ago, after my wife had previously engaged them in conversation when they'd come knocking while I was out.

I was naked having just come out of the shower, hurriedly threw some boxershorts on and I went downstairs to open the door to see who it was. by on 18th June 2008 at 01:09
I introduced the general approach to moderation in my last post on this subject, by saying that everything is taken on a case by case basis. A couple of cases in the last week have prompted me to add a couple of other factors that might result in terse PMs, infractions and even bannings.

First of all, nobody on this forum is ever going to suggest that being a teacher in Thailand EQUALS the proverbial bed of roses. It can even be argued that there is a high staff turnover with in schools ...

  5. When is a troll not a troll?

    by on 11th June 2008 at 04:42
How many times have you read a post on here that seems perfectly plausible, only to see the following posted directly after it?

I dare say that sometimes it's deserved, especially in some areas of Ajarn like the Soapbox, or the Virtual Pub, but one area of growing concern I have is when it occurs in the Newbie Zone.

Ajarn Forum can seem a bit of a boys club at times. Forum Elders certainly seem to think they have the run of the place, and to some extent ...
