AIS 1-2 Call service outage? 12 hrs now? - Ajarn Forum

Does anyone here have AIS 1-2 Call cell phone service, and have you had any problems with "no network coverage"?

At around 8pm last night the connection bar on my cell phone dropped to zero and whenever I try to use my phone it says "no network coverage". Ive never had any problems in BKK before so I was wondering if this could be something wrong with my phone or is it a problem with the network.

I went to the 1-2 call website but couldnt find a number to call.

So is anyone else having network outage issues? This has been going on for over 12 hours now.

AIS has the most traffic of the Thai GSM choices, it's cheap, the most established, the greatest number of transmitters (coverage).

There has been a plague of "Network busy" problems ever since the current price war began. I miss a lot of calls. The cheap Thais who call and then hang up, assuming that the rich farang will call them back, are lost. You can't call them back. The tsunami drill failed in Thailand in May because of this.

I know of no way to solve this. Even AIS calls to other AIS phones don't go through, and if you're trying to connect with another service provider, it's worse.

Make all your calls before 6pm and after 11pm, I guess. It's worse than rush hour traffic in BKK. You get nowhere.

Thanks for the replies, I found out from a post I made at TV that they are changing some hardware and service will be restored by 12pm today...lol its 12:25 and still down.

thanks again for the input, I was worried that I'd have to chuck my phone in the bin.

With the current price war there is little to choose between AIS and DTAC. AIS has better coverage but that is only really noticeable outside the Capital.

between 5pm and 11pm i can rarely make a call with GSM...i'm ready to switch to DTAC but i've had the same number and service for two years now and don't really want to switch...i read that they are going to improve service but WHEN?
