That sucks. They've gotten so big that they can't police the leechers. They need to get rid of some trash and implement some stricter seeding rules, IMO.Originally Posted by daneel

Hear hear. yes I know what you mean. But it is still better than Pirate bay.
Demonoid do open registrations for a short time (usually two or three days) every couple of months or so. Sorry to be imprecise, but that's the way it is I'm afraid!
Keep checking I guess.
Excuse me for not taking this seriously .....
For a content provider i use this...usually come up with the goods

Yeah, I got lucky a couple of months ago.... Anyway, to get back on topic, I managed to join Demonoid a couple of months ago and have been quite pleased with the site.Originally Posted by defender

Actually, I just clicked the "create a new invitation code" button and it came up with one, so I guess that means I can invite someone to join Demonoid?

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
What am I doing wrong??
I've had very little problems with film/movie downloads as I usually download avi.
I downloaded the latest Aliens v Predator film. Tested it with VLC and it was fine but the minute I tried to pull it into Nero, the whol system hung.
I tried playing it with the Windows media player but the same thing happened.
So, went back to the portal and downloaded two more different torrents of the same film.
Same problem.
Anyone any idea what the heck is going on?
could be a codec issue. i usually try to burn the movie as a data file (i use toast) and that seems to get around the problems
do you have the latest dvix?
"Having sex is like playing bridge. If you don't have a good partner, you'd better have a good hand."
- Woody Allen
I usually burn as a data file too, but Nero just hangs.
I have a trial version of dvix author (though I have no idea what it's supposed to do) but just tried to pull the avi through it now and it did what all the other packages did - hang.
???
Whoo-hoo!
Downloaded my first movie yesterday.
Juno 9/10
A couple little glitches but other than that, perfect. Burned it a watched
it on my DVD player.
I feel.....like I've arrived.
Thanks for the info on these stickied threads. Especially zehner.![]()
you're welcome matty. enjoy!!!
WTF?
I've had very little problem with torrent downloads - until today.
I've tried to download around a dozen or so. I go through the usual motions, copy link address, open u-Torrent, go to file, click on add torrent from url, wait for the box to come up then....error, offline - timed out.
This has happened with every damned one, and many of the torrents I was trying to download were recent.
Anyone else had this problem?
yes, if you see my thread on True blocking torrent connections (which they aren't by the way). I am not exactly sure what happened with my setup but all the trackers appeared offline until I rebooted the router, then they would all be fine until it was time for them to update and then they would all appear offline again.
I spent literally hours with a True engineer on the phone talking me through various things and nothing worked. In the end I did a fresh install of uTorrent on a PC on my wireless network that I had not previously been using uTorrent on and everything worked fine again.
Before I did this, I had corrected one problem with my router that we noticed, and that was that it was not sending the right DNS Server info to my PCs.
I'm telling you all that as I can't be sure what solved it in the end or whether it was a combination of problems. I am sure the DNS problem contributed, but I still needed a reinstall of uTorrent (but again I don't know if I could have just done this on the machine it was already running on or whether the fact that it was on another machine made the difference).
I'm a bit confused as to how you add torrents though...I just click on the download torrent link on a website, then select "Open" from the dialog box that pops up and that opens uTorrent to download the file.
If you are still having issues then maybe you could look at your DNS Server details etcetera.

So I did a torrent/download and a VIRUScame with it. (I had to bring my computer to a repair shop and got it back after 3 days, since then I haven't done any torrents anymore.) The torrent/download came from "piratebay". Is there a way to know which torrents are reliable and which are not ?

1) Use sites that have 'user comments' for each torrent. If there is a virus embedded, somebody will comment.
2) Avoid software downloads from untrusted torrent tracker sites. If you must download software, always run virus scans on anything you download.
3) Find and become a member of private trackers. Private trackers almost never have virus issues.
...you get what you need.
