PC with Windows VISTA
PC with Linux OS
Forget it, just go with a MAC!
I get this question a thousand times a day. If someone asked you that question what would you say. And remember, the average person, if you start speaking about technical things, their eyes start to wonder around the room. So, what would you say? I'll vote first. If it's a regular person, and they have been using Windows, then they are asking me for a reason. Maybe they are ready for a change.
Not a technical person? My answer is an absolute, BUY A NEW iMAC!....Turn it on and everything is there. DONE. Finished.
PC with Windows VISTA.
PC with Linux OS.
Go with a MAC.

I think for an "out of the box" computer, nothing can touch a MAC. Specially for the regular joe. And the new OS X 10.5 Leopard is impressive.
Some. Google.Originally Posted by Monaro

i've got a mac mini ao and it's been a pleasure to work with. i can honestly say i have had virtually no problems gfor the past 2 years with it...no viruses, no crashes, no start-up probs, no compatability issues. i did, however, have to recently re-install mac osx 'cos i fucked up something while deleting a file from the system library...but that itself was incredibly painless.
the mac mini is great for home-users who don't want a bladdy great dirty pc tower gawking at them. it's compact, quiet and the new ones are quite powerful. i have the old 1.25ghz ppc mac mini which originally came with a 40gb hdd and 256ram. i upped the ram to 1gb for 5k and got an external firewire 250gb hdd. i also had to buy a dvd burner as the basic mac mini doesn't have the superdrive.
the mac mini's now are priced at 23,500 and 31,500 respectively. they are beasts compared to my old workhorse![]()
the imac, however, starts at a very tasty 46,900 and you get the sweet keyboard, mouse, webcam and monitor with that.
i'm gonna buy an imac for xmas..can't wait!!!!!!!!!!
Go with a Mac. I'm no expert but i have been able to do cool things with photos, music etc.
I'm sure it has mate!Originally Posted by zehner

I'm stuck with windows for work reasons and have found it hard to adjust to the little nuances within the Mac whenever trying it out. Seems like the Mac is great for either the very beginners or the creative folks. Unfortunately I'm neither, just a member of the middle-road majority.![]()
Cheers.
Yes I have seen the new I Mac and it is beautiful but I cant justify shelling out 70 grand for it.![]()

There are decent alternatives to Mac Mini's as well. ACer produce one. You could then run OSX-86 and windows and get the best of both worlds at half the price.
I was lying, its really nothing to call home about.I feel better now.
