Power Supply? HELP!

I have an Atom tower unit which is Intel duo, 3gig, fast, very good, top end PC.OS Vista.

About 10 days ago it started to shut down at random, sometimes after 2 minutes, sometimes after 15. Not even a blue screen. Just cuts itself out. Sometimes it c omes back by itself, sometimes not. I decided probably NOT a boot sector virus, as it booted ok. Anyway, i reinstalled Vista, a pain, but there we are. No difference.

The power supply had a problem in June, and my other half took it to a friend at Pantip. It was fine after that, until now.

Last Sunday, we took it back to Pantip because of this cutting out. The techie guy said it was the RAM worn out. There had been 1 gig of RAM, but he suggested 2 gig to save problems. He slotted in the 2 gig, and I paid 3700b.

When I got home, I was busy, so I didnt boot up til the next day. It was OK for 20 mins and then dropped itself again. I have noticed that the MBoard light goes on fine when the power is put back on, even when there is no action (like CDrom drawer not opening and no boot).

I think I was sold a pup at PTip. I hadnt had a problem with the 1gig Ram before, but i have read that a worn/burnt Ram can cause the drop.

I have opened the unit to check in a newbie way that its all connected and the fans are running. they are.

Is this a Power Supply prob?

Desperate!

Re: Power Supply? HELP!

Could be power supply or it could be overheating in the motherboard or graphics card. Are you seeing any graphical corruption at all before the machine shuts itself down?

Here are some utilities you can use to check mobo temp, graphics card temp, fan speed, and the like.
