Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
Do many, or most internet cafes have keyloggers? (Recording key strokes, therefore aware of what your emailing/writing, etc?)
If so, how can you tell?
Thanks.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
If they have anti-spyware installed you could run a scan (although you would need to check they hadn't listed any keyloggers as exceptions). I would imagine that some do but not all, and of those some may be intentional and some not.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
I must admit I haven't used one for over a year but I don't think most incidences would necessarily be intentionally installed by the owners.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
Thanks for the responses. I use a laptop at home, but was curious.
And keylogging can be used to find out a username and password, if used.
And like you stated, why would someone go through the effort to track the customers. Unless there was a specific person/crime being investigated or monitored.
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
I would be interested to know if you copy and paste something, if the contents of the copy / paste are loggable or is it just actual keystrokes. If it was just actual keystrokes then you could email your username / password to hotmail or similar then copy and paste them. The username could be retrieved of course if you didn't clear the saved input on forms history.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
Copy and paste is safe, a key logger, as the name suggests will only log key strokes.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
There's your solution then (for username / passwords at least).

ahhh, yes, but that'd require you to log into hotmail to retrieve the username / password

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
Ok...here is how you do it...
You type the alphabet (and numbers if needed) in a row in notepad. Then, one by one you copy and paste the desired letters from notepad into the hotmail logon form.
Any more questions?

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
Eh, one of the first posts I made on Ajarn was about private/secure internet booths. I remember getting a lecture from Whitey cuz according to him, every internet place has keyloggers.

Re: Do Internet Cafes have Keyloggers?
If this keylogger does what it's purported to do, we'd be better off not using a net cafe at all and staying at home,
New keylogger records everything – records key strokes, screenshots, clip board contents, print activity, even disk changes.
Actual Spy is a powerful PC monitoring solution that records all computer activity – not just keystrokes. While search for a “keylogger” yields over 1000000 results in Google alone, a feature-rich keylogger undetectable to antivirus software is almost impossible to find these days. Actual Spy is one of the few lucky exceptions.
