Around 15$ USD a month, and you can also get a 10 day free trial to test it out.

Buy it all at B2S or most gaming shops. The base set is 6 bloody CDs (why theyre not DVDs is beyond me), Expansion is 4 CDs. Else you can always download a hefty file off the net from Blizzard.com

You need the 60-day prepaid card if you aint got a credit card to set up your account online.

You don't need Burning Crusade unless you really want to use the additional races (Blood Elves and Drenaei) I haven't reached any of the scenarios in Burning Crusade yet... and haven't even finished much in the standard set. There's really just so much to explore in the standard set alone! You can't just go and walk into the additional scenarios that Burning Crusade has either unless you're venturing with one or ten level 60 players protecting your ass in all directions (and then you won't be able to do anything as you won't be able to touch any of the high-level monsters in the expansion).

Then there's the upcoming expansion - Revenge of the Lich King. I definitely won't be in a hurry to get that as I said, I haven't even finished the standard scenario!

z, if you can download the WOW basic game off the net, I can give you a free 10-day trial for you to test out. I've got a couple of them already (the 60-day card gives you one, and the original box and expansions give you 2-3 10-day certificates)

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

Well, to be honest (from my experience at least) It's VERY addicting in the beginning, but once you've finished your home and surrounding area, venturing out just gets a bit daunting and lonely and hence you'll be taking breaks from the game a lot. One nifty thing about WOW though -- if you haven't logged in for a long time, your character gets into a 'rested state' in which you'll earn twice the XP for killing monsters. Blizzard did this to allow players to 'make up' for time away from the computer. I think it works nicely.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

A quick warning to all following this thread. I bought the WOW Battle Chest at Pantip on Sunday and I managed to pick up a Thai copy by accident (English on the front, Thai on the back). When I tried to enter the CD code to validate my trial account it would not accept it. I am also unable to install the game properly as it is asking me questions in Thai during the instal that I can not read (this part may not be a real issue but I won't know until I get the GF to read it all for me).

In any event do yourself a favour and try buy a US copy if you can, I didn't know there was a Thai copy which is why I didn't look at the back of the box. I have sent an Email to the support group for the game and will update as to their responce once I get one.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

I didn't know there was a Thai version either. I always go with a box that has English letters and all on it. Did you buy it from Zest? They have the English versions there. So do B2S.

With regards to the 30-day trial account -- you CANNOT use it to create an account. Yeah, it sounds fucked up, and it is really (I could hardly believe it myself when the store person warned me) but that's the way Blizzard wants you to shell out some more cash either by using a credit card or a prepaid Game Card.

Either way they're stupid not to tell you this as they could have gotten more out of you with the Game Card (in case you don't have a credit card to begin with) and both parties would have been happy campers in the end. I don't blame the store people for greedy, sneaky Blizzard's set up.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

Just a quick update incase any of you didn't already know I was an idiot..... The bundled package I bought does not have the MMOG in it. It actually has the BC expansion pack for the online game and the expansion pack for the real time strategy game. That is why my CD key was not working. But the part about the game being in Thai was correct though there is about 30% of the text on the box in Angrit.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

That's a strange bundle. Expansion Chest? So basically you can't do anything with it unless you have the standard sets of each. Clever Thais.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

A final update on my mission to get a copy of WoW. I went to the B2S in Central Lad Prao, they had the expansion and the 60day access cards but no original games.

Next I tried Pantip at the place on the 3rd floor with the big orange sign that sells original software....same deal, expansion and card pack but no basic game. Asked the guy who works there and he told me to go to MBK.

So off to MBK I went and sure enough it was at the I27 shop on the 4th floor as previously mentioned. Only problem is they only had it as part of a bundle with the 2 strategy guides, and the expansion. All in price of 2,500 baht, plus 3-4 hrs of screwing around.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

That's strange. I got my standard game from that Orange-sign place (it's called ZEST) at Pantip. You've had some real bad luck lately. In anycase, you can always download the standard game for free off Blizzard.net. It's not just a normal slow download either -- it downloads the Blizzard P2P app which downloads the biggie off Blizzard and every other available PC seeding the file online. This makes the download a bit less painful.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

I have original discs for the regular game along with a 60 day (unscratched) card if you want to buy it off me. I'll look for the original CD key as well. That is also unused so you'll get the first 30 days free. I bought the game a long time ago but never found the time to get into it beyond the free 10-day guest pass.

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

I started playing WoW in June of 2007. Gradually my internet connection was so bad I stopped playing. I have a level 65 paladin in the horde on AmanThul.

My account was also hacked my gold farmers- Blizz eventually took care of things but then they locked my account cuz the farmers used a stolen creidt card with my acct - now I am waiting on a friend in the USA to send a money order to of 15 bucks to get my account back up - Blizz really needs to give us servers in Australia or something!

Re: World of Warcraft in Thailand?

True, True (because of TRUE). I've actually stopped for now because I got Colin McRae and a G25 wheel. Beats the monthly fees and the server lag due to shitty True internet speeds.
