Downloading Movies, TV Shows and Music
OK, I'm in Dubai now and my laptop is running A-1. We don't have cable yet, but if I can download this stuff, that could make life easier. What can you experts recommend for these things? I'm more inteested in new movies and TV shows. Greens to all who show me the way.

I reckon your first step ought to be to download uTorrent, then maybe have a look at this thread, with maybe a cursory look at the uTorrent sticky.

For general tv, as in news and government stations and randomness from all over the world there is beelinetv.com I will still say torrents from mininova.org are your best bet for downloading.

install it and then go to Pirate Bay - Unlimited downloads! , isoHunt - World's largest BitTorrent and P2P search engine , EZTV - TV Torrents Online (eztvefnet.org is now eztv.it) to get the torrent files

Download a torrent program like Utorrent , bitcomment, or azerus.
Istall it
Go the a torrent website and look for the movies or shows you want.
Download the torrent from that site.
Once it downloads, click its icon and it will automatically open the torrent program (if not already opened) and begin downloading.
Be patient. I never used to use torrents because I thought they didn't worked. Then I learned that the torrent that wasn't downloading were had no seeds and I would have to wait for .

Wow, thanks for all the quick replies. It sounds like torrents are the way to go. WTF are seeds and how do I know where they are?
seeds are computers which are uploading the file(s) you want. the more seeds the better.
go to a torrent site like EZTV - TV Torrents Online (eztvefnet.org is now eztv.it) and look at the seeds (uploading) ..many of the files on there have hundreds
OK, so another dummy question - once I download the movies, TV shows, etc. do I save them on my hard drive or should I get a DVD burner software and use that?

z, I downloaded that site, but I'm stil a bit lost. I found Damages in the drop down list, but it didn't show up on the screen. How can I ask for a certain show?

Nat....please follow these steps in order
1. Download and install azureus
2. Go to a torrent site. click on the file you want, click on download file.
3. Go back to azureus and click "Open File"
4. Select the torrent file which you downloaded and click ok.
OK, I'm downloading Azures now. Oh, the anticipaton!
to watch it, you can:
1. Watch it off your computer
2. Change to an mp4 format and burn to a DVD as a data file to watch it (i do this)
3. You can use software to turn it into DVD
4. There are now HD players which work like portable harddrives, but play on almost anything. ( I just bought a cheap chinese one and love it. Gonna buy a top of the line one next it is so handy.) I just downloaded Primeval (kinda gay) for my 4 year old son, and he operates it on his own.

yeah, in file converter it is actually called mpeg2, the divx is essentially mp4, i think that is why I said mp4... sorry
