Re: Huge Windows Performance Tip!

^ Drivers I uninstalled consisted of: Disk Drives-10 (had a few different HDs), DVD/CD-ROM drives-8 (had a few of those too), Non-Plug and Play Drivers-20 (plenty of old AV drivers and True Acronis drivers in there), Sound Video and Game Controller-6 (plenty of Microsoft garbage in there), Storage volume shadow copies-10, Storage Volumes-10, Universal Serial Bus controllers-9.

All those were greyed out of course.

Re: Huge Windows Performance Tip!

Why not delete the system 32 folder. You're bound to get all those nasty guys off your computer that way.

8.04 is a step up, more stability and more features, but it's not a huge jump from 7.10.

About the Windows Registry: Ubuntu doesn't have a registry. It just has easy to work on config files in the /etc directory. That's the way it should be.

JD is of course wrong here. It's not that easy to delete the registry, you would have to go into DOS on boot up. Your system looks more like format and re-install (XP of course). I'll ask on another forum if somebody has had the same experience like you on their Vista machines. To me it looks like a matter of fooling around but not cleaning up afterwards or Vista is just that dumb.

Re: Huge Windows Performance Tip!

Won't deleting system32 folder throw a bunch "file in use, cannot be deleted" errors?

Doesn't deleting the system32 folder cause your computer to disappear?
