TOT having problems with irratic connections
For the last month I've been having troubles with my internet. It seems to have started when the connection was shut off for repairs during a whole weekend in May. Since then my BitTorrent program will suddenly lose both upload and download speed, even though I have a "green light" on connectivity and the internet will still work.
So, I called the technicians and they sent engineers out to our building (there are three other customers having the same problem) and they confirmed that the problem existed. So aweek later they send me another modem, which when used will download consistantly (but only download at about 40 KB/s), however after about ten minutes of usage I can't access the internet (even though the torrent is still uploading and downloading).
The chief technician says that he is upset with uppermanagement, because there are many people having this same problem, yet since he can only check the results of the problem, he has no way of fixing the customers problems.
has anyone else been experiencing this problem and (hopefully) anyone had it solved?

My torrents used to get download speeds of 60kbs (using True 100.0Mbps package) and I could surf the net with ease. Then suddenly my torrent download speed went down to a max of 27kbs, and trying to load a webpage at the same time became annoyingly slow.

There isn't such a package. Its the speed of your LAN (Local Area Network) connection.

I had the same problem some time ago after some maintenance activities by TOT. The speed with bittorrent went down with a lot of reconnections. TOT reconnected things (at the stations) and the problems were gone.
At the graph you can see the speeds and reconnections untill 16:00 h when TOT fixed the problems.

It was reported in the Bangkok Post 2 weeks ago that there is a general slowdown in the internet with TOT due to the government monitoring all email and traffic. European companies based in Bangkok were complaining as it affects business.

For the last two weeks its True as well. They say its 'CAT and they are dicking around spying on us slowing the speed down. 'Today on true it is slow as hell and they blame 'CAT.. Its a funny old world.
Besides that the thermostat on my air doesnt work today.

No, I don't know, keeshou. Several things I know and these are, it's not your computer, it's not your modem, it's not inside your building and it's not the line between your building and your Soi. It's the nod (station) somewhere in your area. This info doesn't help you with a better connection but it does help you not to blame things within your reach.

Same problem with youtube. I think it's a copyright crackdown.
As for peer-to-peer, the US has begun throttling it so everyone is slower as a result.
As for the local problems, you could have a fried DSLAM which would cause lots of headaches. These are hard to troubleshoot and expensive to replace. Just keep calling and eventually they'll replace it.
