Re: Avira vs. AVG, Firefox vs. Opera

I had AVG it wasn't catching the viruses. I changed to avast and it is.

I only use firefox which is much better for me than IE.

Re: Avira vs. AVG, Firefox vs. Opera

changed to Avira cause AVG was being a resource daemon. Yuk

Still want to give Avast a try though.

Use both Firefox and Opera. I like noscript in firefox.

Use comodo firewall 3.0 as well.

Huh? What have you been downloading? I heard that there might be viruses but I have never actually seen one.

Limewire and the likes have loads of them.

on Bittorrents, you need to know what is downloading, always check comments.

Re: Avira vs. AVG, Firefox vs. Opera

Usually you get a fake movie that tells you to go and download m3player or something, the movie is not a virus per se, just an invitation to download it.

Re: Avira vs. AVG, Firefox vs. Opera

Maybe, you need to use HexEditor to make sense out of it. Any program would look exactly like that if opened with Notepad.

Re: Avira vs. AVG, Firefox vs. Opera

I used AVG (free) but it was too great a resource pig. Use NOD32 now.

I got a cracker of a virus!!? so my firfox is dead and won't reload (missing DLL - can't find anyway to fix it, searched the net high and low, something is sitting in the registry and killing it everytime).

Using Opera now - I like it, very quick.
