I recently bought an HP Pavilion (a63731) Desktop with "intergrated speakers" and it's beautiful in all respects except the sound. For one, when I boot up, there's no Windows XP sound. The only way I can hear anything is through a headset and I can only barely hear the sound from it. I've got the control panel sound control set to high. Anybody got an idea? Thanks...
start/run/msconfig/audio tab, click it and do the audio test and check volume level output. No taco? Up-date audio drivers. If you bought it in Thailand it has illegal Windoz, guaranteed. Go to control panel/system/advanced/program manager, click the audio tab, write down the sound card's name and number, google search audio driver downloads, xxxx. You shouldn't use micro soft downloads. When the download prompt comes on your screen click save. Don't know your save file location, either on the desk top or my documents, depends on how you are set up. Click install and follow the prompts. At that point if you have no sound call a witchdoctor.
Your computer probably does not have internal speakers as this is rare to come by with desk tops. Try purchase a set of speakers. That should do the trick. The reason that you can only hear the sound when you put your head phones on is that it is playing though the sound card(good sign). you just need to attach a set of speakers and you should be A for away!
And I assumed he knew what a speaker looked like.
I picked up the most kick ass little speakers I have ever seen. A big sub wooder you put under the desk, then two little speakers on stands not even 2 inches square. There is a bass control knob on a remote plus volume. I have both teachers in opposite offices in a way jealous and a way angry as the bass goes right through the walls.
The best part was the price 750 baht. Saag is the brand.

^ Saag it is for me then. Thanks a million!!
In control panel you should be able to find the "sound" icon. go to the "advanced" settings for your speakers to choose the right speakers.
If that doesn't work, look in your system resource to see if you have multiple drivers for your system (probably you do). you might have the drivers turned off for your "intergrated speakers" and the drivers for externals turned on.
"We're all very different people. We're not Watusi, we're not Spartans, we're Americans. With a capital "A", huh? And you know what that means? Do you? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts."
