Mr. C. this 3g, does this mean, when I connect to my pc through my phone (bluetooth) that i will be able to get faster downloads / access to web pages.
My next door neighbours have challenged me to a water fight , so I am just writing this while I am waiting for the kettle to boil .
this is the most important question for me. I've been looking this up and today I learned of this software called PDAnet. You cannot use an iphone as a bluetooth modem, but this software allows you to use it as a modem through the WiFi connection.
Watch it here
If this can be done and I can work on Msoffice documents, then getting an iphone would be a no-brainer and I don't have to cough up 25K for a Blackberry, I really hope this works. I'm eating shit here on dial up. Let's hope the animaster gives us the review on PDAnet

That'll be someone else, because I've just got the iPod Touch, not the iPhone. But now since you've mentioned it, along with that True Move thing (initially I had thought it was 18,000 for the phone which would have been a plain stupid rip-off), I'm really thinking of getting one myself.
Oh crap. Must remind myself that it's "just" 16GB...
Ok... now THIS is why I hate Apple sometimes... it's a marketing thing.
Will let you know if I can find a Word Processor for the iPhone. I'll look on the iTunes store now...
I wish I could afford to make just a dollar a year.

youre locked into the plan for 2 years, folks. monthly subscription (which you must pay) is 1000 thb+/mo. you end up paying more in the end than if you had just bought one retail. its for suckers.
"EDGE/3G connection plan unlimited for 1,900 baht/mo."
They must be kidding.
Same for AIS for Blackberrys. The plans are very complicated. For Blackberry they call it a "Pushmail" Package. 850 baht unlimited Edge/GpRs, but the calling plan is separate. 2 pages of plans. Very confusing.
Any true shop now has the plan to check out for iPhone.
Although I hate Nokia, it's worth waiting for the N97 to check. D-Tac will have 3G soon anyway.
Or, pay 20-25k for the iPone and use D-TAC or whatever. They always screw you with the packages.

It doesn't make sense to charge that. How long do you suppose it will be before that price drops? If you buy it retail, who do you get to service the plan?

^theres no competition so they charge what they want. most people who use this stuff wouldnt know the difference between 1,900/mo and 4,500/mo.
The whole unlocking/cracking iPhone trick thing gives me a headache. As Samsara suggests, my opinion is if you can't afford or don't want to be on a plan, don't get these kinds of phones. The plans seem to be on par with what you'd pay in the USA. AT&T's new unlimited-data plan goes for $69.99 ($30 for data and $39.99 for its cheapest voice plan).
Does True even have 3G? I bought my iphone 3G for 35k a few months ago. It's been acting up lately. I might want a new one but at these crazy prices, why bother? Right now, I pay almost 1,000 for my phone bills but that is with calling a lot and an unlimited data plan. I have free WIFI since I pay for TRUE high speed but end up using mostly EDGE cuz it's not easy to get True WIFI where I am at.
It's like I'm speaking a foreign language or something...
Baht 850 or 999 per month for unlimited data usage plus separate call charges is a generic Thai deal for such things. iPhone plan is double that, if the OP is true.
At 8,000 baht it's also pretty cheap even without comparing the specs like camera, display size, data storage etc.
People who buy 8k phones do not pay 2000 baht per month in phone bills. Average revenue per user is only 300-400 baht here.
Good luck to true signing up people for such charges, they must prepare for a serious backlash, like hacking the phones and ditching their true sim numbers. True would still have to pay Apple, though.
For Thais it's certainly a boon - why spend 20k+ at Mahbookrong when you can get Thai version for 8k, pay another 1,000 to hack it, and give True a finger.
If they stay all legit they'd pay around 30k for iPhone (8k + 24 months of overcharges).
I want a new iphone 3g since mine has got 2 lines on the bottom that seemed to have appeared all of a sudden. It doesn't affect the phone but it's annoying since the screen isn't perfect anymore. The only problem with their plan is the small amount of talk time given. They need to give people the option of having more minutes.
