My mobile broadband has a counter on it, to show how much uploading and downloading it's doing.
Everytime I've logged on today, it's started downloading straight away, without me even opening up a browser or doing anything. It's really starting to pee me off, especially since I pay by the megabyte.
Can anybody suggest what the hell is being downloaded? I'm worried that it could be a virus of some sort.

You know what really chaps my ass though?
I spent my life savings turning my van into a dog.
The alarm alone cost me two hundred.

I wonder about that kind of thing too, not necessarily downloads, but the light on my box showing ongoing hard-drive activity even when my browser's not loaded, the computer's just powered on and I'm not doing anything with it.
Might be scanning, some have anti-v.
It sounds like a virus..or trojan. It's accessing a site to pull down lots of porn or other files. It can also be uploading all of your files to some server somewhere where they can analyze any private info you have.
I'd get this program:
SUPERAntiSpyware.com - SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner
and also run a virus scan on it.
Are you actually reading this? Do you think I care?
this one works wonders: Removeit pro v4 at MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities.. This little antivirus finds shit all the others miss.
Could be a program (like Adobe which likes to connect to their servers without asking you), but , it is not necessarily a virus at all. I am not saying it could not be, I am saying that it doesn't have to be.
What you need to download is a Network Activity monitor and see where all this activity is coming from. Is it just the svchost.exe process? Is it a wireless router? are you sure someone is not using your signal? is it the UPnP on the router? have you tried it using another computer/laptop? etc etc.
I wouldn't buy into the "it's a virus" thing right away.
Also, Zone Alarm can give you a view so in case you have some open port and packets being sent constantly from some IP you don't know you can block it. It will look like this:
You may want to also check into an Open Port Scanner.
Just be prepared for a virus scan to come out clean.

It's a mystery!
I am going with what bellaco said...it could some auto update program stuff. There are so many of them out there that try to update as soon as they get a connection.
Adobe Update (including Flash)
Get the idea?
