Google plans to build and launch a ultra fast web grid with speeds of one Gigabyte per second. Damn monopolies in the states have hampered upgrades in infrastructure. Google plans to show them what is possible.

Google is smart. Encourage more internet use and they make more money. Simple.
Yeah, Google is great. People that malign Google don't understand that they have such a great vision that they have married their goals with those of their customers. Every bit of data they collect about you is used to provide more and better services to customers so that they lock themselves into Google services. They are not out to rape people just to collect the dollars people would otherwise normally spend on products from other companies.
Same old thing, eh.
Those not busy growing are busy dying.
Some day Google too will be an historical footnote.
