I have recently bought a new TV but don't know how to use most of its functions. The only one that is of interest to me, at the moment, is being able to plug my laptop in to use as a DVD player (mine is knackered).
How do I do this? Or, can it even be done?
Thanks
It can be done. If your laptop has a HDMI slot on it you should get a HDMI cable. That'll send both picture and sound to the TV. If not, you can send the picture by VGA cable and connect some speakers to the laptop for the sound.
I tried to get a splitter from Fortune Town but none of the stores had any.
brilliant. I will get some tonight. They'vre not expensive, these cables, are they?

I just googled HDMI cables; seems there are many different types. Is it likely I will want to ones that look like small USB connections? Or different at each end?
I actually don't know, but i was cheap. It is an acer something or other and cost just 16'000bht or there abouts. Does that help?
