Not sure if this belongs as entertainment or classroom aids, so will cross-post. Just discovered you can get British TV on a laptop using what's called a VPN. I pay this company called uktvaccess.com four quid a month and can watch live and catch up TV from the BBC and Channel 4. Sorry if this is old news to some, but for me it's a godsend. Using Dr Who with my young learners makes Saturday fly by.
I'm really happy with uktvaccess , thanks a lotit's time to catch up on Corrie !!!
Why pay?
Download this program. Expat Shield. It gives you a British I.P.address.
There you go.

Nice. Works on Windows 7 as well. I see Frank Skinner has taken over on Room 101.
Only problem is it stopped halfway stating 'insufficient bandwidth.
I have 3BB 6Mbps but it reported 377kBps. Need 500-1500 for TV & 3500 for HD. Looks like the bandwidth is throttled for sites outside of Thailand.![]()
Why not just try and get a free membership to UK Nova? I've watched all of the Frank Skinner room 101s so far (five of them)
They put the Coronation Streets up there as well I think. Download them and watch them at your leisure.
At the moment I've got the two My Big Fat Gypsy Weddings (series two) to watch along with the last two episodes of 'The Fixer' with Alex Polizzi. When I've watched all the stuff, I burn them on to DVD and send them to my Mom and Dad in Spain.
---Update---
UK Nova often put up megapacks of Dr Who stuff and you can download whole series of Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee, etc.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
^^ Also, when you've got Dr Who, or whatever, on your USB you know for sure what's going to be happening in your lesson and you can use the show to actually teach something rather than just park the kids in front of it.
Man that software sticks fat ads at the top of your browser window.I even had to shut it down in task manager after I closed the program.
I have uTorrent already & have found the room 101s. Think I'll stick with that...for now.![]()
I use Expat Shield and it work fine, however my main conduit of access to U.K. T.V is U.K. Nova and the Box.
Been with both of them a long time and have a good ratio too.regarding Utorrent. I stick with version 1.8.3 as demanded by The Box, works well more than can be said for the more modern versions of Utorrent
'Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.'
cheers muddy, became a telly monster after all that I've missed! ... and I figured out that I can use uktvaccess even if I go overseasfantastic!
If you use Firefox, try this Add On:
