I text a lot to a friend in the Philippines and was wondering if anyone knows of a website or iOS app that offers free/discounted international texting (preferably to the Philippines). I currently use Google Voice for my international calls, however, they currently do not allow international texting. Thanks.

It's a buddy of mine from the States (which means he only speaks one language). Don't think he'd understand this or how to use Google translate.

LOL~! I just tried Google Translate out on what I wrote above. It is SO wrong:

The REAL translation: "Dude, your phone sucks balls. Can't you get an iPhone or any Android phone for that matter?"

I actually met this guy at Narita Airport during a three day layover (we were both on buddy passes and the flights out of Narita were full) and now we just shoot the shit about travelling and how we can't wait to get out of the States. I'm currently living vicariously through him as I live in a Colorado mountain town with a guy to girl ratio of 10 to 1 (or at least it seems that way). It was either this or get an online thai girlfriend.
I'd advise your friend to hightail it to Thailand. Better-looking girls that ~stay~ fit. My bro brought a Filipina back to the States and she gained thrice her friggin' weight. It was the classic rags-to-riches story but fuck... you'd think she'd have enough resolve to stay fit for the poor guy... alas, love is blind. I just hope he's as happy as he looks.
Plus, the crime rate in the Philippines is heaps higher than it is here in Bangkok. Don't let the 'bombs' here scare ye either. Shit happens in the Philippines too -- Even Manila gets hit every now and then by some schmuck extremists hailing from the south. I've had to deal with 2 scumbags in the first 3 months I was back there, after finishing my studies in Australia. Screw the place... Bangkok ain't perfect, but I'd choose it over Manila anytime.
