Well, I was kind of surprised when I went to the Mall earlier in the day and found that they had just received a shipment of iPad 3s. Course... the long line soon died out as they sold the last one just an hour or so of accepting people's money for it.
But the store had ONE iPad 3 for people to play around with.
And... well... it's GREAT buuuuut....
... I didn't receive the same "WOWfG" factor I had when I played with the iPhone 4 for the first time. Sure it has the Retina Display and all but... it didn't FEEL any different from the iPad 2! I was expecting it to blow me away visually... you know... that RESOLUTIONARY crap and all?
The thing is, the demo was stocked with too many apps that WEREN'T Retina-ready (for the iPad3). So this just made everything look... PIXELATED. And boy... do these apps look SO pixelated on a "Retina Display"!! Even the version of iMovie they had was still the old one -- and the play button was noticeably jaggy. Fucking idiots. They ruined the "WOW" factor.
I heard that the iPad 3 is supposed to be able to blow up and smooth the older apps that aren't Retina-ready yet. I didn't have enough time to find that feature... unless it's supposed to be a default feature?
Still... I just can't get over the fact that there wasn't much of a significant "WOW" factor to the whole experience. Not what I had in mind. : (
Anyways... anyone else see the new iPad yet? What do you think?
I wish I could afford to make just a dollar a year.
Just Buy a Mac

Which is by design - the screen has 4x the resolution, yet it acts and behaves just like the prior model. That's the point. Also, once you play with iPad 3 and you try to go back to iPad 2, the screen of the prior model just feels 'pixelated'.
The apple factor is that there is no "huh?" factor when using it - and you *do* notice speed differences when using regular apps, like Pages, or Keynote, etc... that are more responsive.
You can, and the new iPad does it quite well. Better than the iPad 2 did.
Oh no, not another product that's going to take over the world for six months - but never seems to be available to buy in Thailand. Utterly sick of it.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
Just as annoying as people that bitch and moan before doing their homework .... new iPad has been available in Thailand since April 27th, ie perfectly timed with your complaint.

Darn you Phil!!
Don't forget to post your impressions when it arrives : )
*Sigh* Unfortunately due to my plans this year, I won't be able to afford one, and even if I did... it wouldn't of much use to me as what I originally intended it for. I'll wait for the iPad 6.
Truth be told, I find gaming much better on my macbook pro -- who was it again who told me so? XD Also, there's a 'battle' raging on at the house where the in-laws don't want the kids playing games on these devices (and they have a good point -- can't argue against it!) -- introducing an iPad at this time is NOT a good idea, even without the wise words of advice from the in-laws. My 3-year old goes nuts if he can't get his iPhone fix so I've given up mobile gaming completely (to set an example). I've also set a passcode for my device, but really, I should remove the games from the device completely. It's just the right thing to do -- spend more time with the kids and some books.
You know what? I'll do just that. Might even make it run faster.
However, he still gets access to Mommy's phone occasionally.
The Forum God wonders why someone would pay the money for a device with so many strings attached when there are cheaper alternatives available that are able to provide the same needs for a much lower cost.
^glad to hear God hates Apple. They get on my nerves too.
Not much of a god, are you?
---Update---
All I can say is "finally", because (quite frankly) the camera on iPad 2 was pretty shitty - not that I use the iPad to take pictures.
The best combination is to have an iPhone 4s, with the new iPad, and both connected to iCloud, sharing the same account.
Then, with Photostream active, any pictures you take with iPhone 4S' 8megapixel camera, are nearly instantly available on the iPad to view on the Retina Display. No hassle with copy or sync utilities or any extra interaction needed. That's simply the kind of convenience that Android lacks, and that the Apple ecosystem provides.
Strings attached? Yes, lots of those with Android.
Most probably. I've plans to leave the country and every cent counts now. Depends on what I face when I land back home.
I'm guessing because there's not that many preferences to keep track of and no saved data (if I do a full restore) to clutter up stuff, and possibly now that there's a little more 'disk space (which I know.. it's not a disk) it might be able to more virtual memory (wait... VM on an iPhone??), but I see what you're getting at. Still, the deed's been done and I'm still trying to 'notice' the difference. It might just be me imagining it, but it does feel a fraction more responsive. I'm waiting for those "Aw, shit, this thing's slow" moments that frequently happened in the past. That seems the only way for me to gauge any improvements.
In other words, please, educate me.
