Request Anybody know about .xml files

I am not a computer wizard and I need help. I do some editorial work and always use MS Word. I now need to convert a Word file to .xml format. I have done some research on the internet and discovered a (for me at least) prohibitively complicated series of commands for performing this task. I wonder if there is any software available that will enable me to make a more simple conversion?

On my Mac using Word 2011 you can open a Word file and choose "Save As..."--there is a menu of different file types, and .xml is an option.

    XML Editors

XML editors are software tools to help you write XML. While you can write XML in any text editor, XML editors do things like parse the XML, check for validity against schemas, and validity. This makes it much easier to write valid, well-formed XML on the first try.

If you don’t know much about xml using software like you suggested is a good idea, definitely looked into xml editors, some of the really good ones layout your xml graphically and allow you to work in source or wysiwyg mode. I use Liquid XML Editor but there are many more available, free and commercial.
