I have TOT for 6 years in my current house. Not many problems at all. The disconnection problems appeared since a month or so.

^ I'll add myself to the thumbs downers. Maybe it's worse in certain areas. I'm located on the eastern fringes of Bangkok. I get an unreliable connection to TOT, working fine for a random interval then abruptly disconnecting.

Today my TOT Optical Fiber got installed. They also gave me a new wireless router. Let's see how this connection runs. I'll keep you posted.

    As for now......

Stamp, I've noticed with True that whenever I get a new connection (i.e. for iPhone and then iPad) it's always blazing fast for the first month. Then after that it slows down to a crawl (Thai customer service ). I think it might be the same with TOT. Either that or you're just lucky and not many people in your area shares the same line as you do.

It's a 10/1 and cost me 890 THB ex. VAT. However, bringing the fiber to the house costs money. I was quoted 6,000 THB a couple of months ago. An TOT employee I personally know requested to be the fiber connection free of charge. And so it happened. 300 m of fiber cable and a new modem/ router free of charge.

Most connections do 100 % (as promised in the agreement) for national connections but not more than 60 % internationally. In my case it's 100 % for both national and international.

I have to wait and see, MDJase. That's why I'm reporting back after 3 weeks.

hmm. ive been quoted 2500/mo (1000 installation) for 20/3 CAT. but really, if i get a consistent ping under 300 and 10M+ intl, its worth the price for me

shouldnt happen for the fiber. not many will have these lines so your pool for sharing will be relatively small. in my case in mae hong son, ill probably be sharing with only govt buildings and a few businesses

I set up my 3BB 6Mbps via a 3BB booth in my local big C & the lady agent told me the maximum speed for websites outside Thailand was 1Mbps. I've since had a free upgrade to 10Mbps but don't know if this translates to a higher 'outside Thailand' speed.

that would be total bs max intl speed is determined by the amount of traffic at the time and the amount of throttling going on. for every connection ive had so far in thailand (from 2mb to 5mb) ive been able to get the max with both domestic and intl. just comes down to how often that happens.

Thanks Stamp. I didn't even think of trying that. I'll give it a go now.

About the same speed but I seem to have been downgraded today.

Doesn't seem right does it! The same time to travel <50 miles as 6000 miles?

I tried a server next door.
