new fiber connection is installed

^^ that's impressive. Are you getting that speed consistently? you're getting better than advertised if you're on the 20/3 package. I'm still waiting for fiber but TOT told me last weekend it will take 2 months.
I've signed up for the shared traffic 10/3 package at 1500 per month. Had a choice between the basic shared 10/3 and the managed traffic 10/3 at 4500 monthly, but I'm anticipating the shared won't be much slower as so few people are using it yet.

I need internet but my appartment will only let me use TOT , the problem is I have no idea how to set it up. DO they have an office or boothe in central BKK? Ive seen millions belonging to TRUE but none for TOT.
My appartment said I might be able to use TRUE next year (and it sounds like the best option), but i need something for the short term.
What do I need to set up the internet? Does some guy need to come to my appartment? I would also rather pay with cash rather than start a standing order as I only want to use it for like two or three months and cant be arsed with the hassle of canceling it. I heard somewhere you can just pay with cash at a bank, is this correct?
It depends what you need the internet for - just browsing or massive downloads. Assuming your apartment doesn't have a fiber connection, you have two options:
1. Simplest way is the 3G option. Just buy a broadband dongle for less than 1000 baht and a SIM card from any mobile provider (you need to experiment to find the most reliable 3G service for your location - most likely to be True). All you need to do: insert the SIM in the dongle, stick it in a USB port, install the software and activate the SIM. In less than 5 minutes you're connected to the internet via 3G. Another way to get the internet by 3G: if you have a smartphone and 3G package, you can share your phone's 3G connection with your desktop / notebook. So your phone acts as the dongle that connects you to the internet. But it's going to be significantly slower than the air card.
2. If you find the 3G service too slow, then you could try the DSL route and connect via the phone lines. But the problem with this option is you're stuck with TOT. Seriously... TOT is very unreliable in some locations (such as where I am), and as you mention they're hard to find. Check first with a neighbor who uses DSL to connect to TOT and find out what kind of service they're getting.

got True for new place; 599 for 7mb
after a month, the speed went up to 10, but the bill has remained the same
I'm everywhere you've never been and better than I've ever been
Thanks, Nickboy. Looks like 3BB have done something similar. I wondered what all that bumph was on about.
I thought my downloads had seemed a bit quicker recently.
I signed up 2 years ago. 599 a month (950 with VAT) for 8Mb.

Well, I've always wanted to visit Haight-Ashbury and just imagine myself back in Kesey's day, that sort of thing. Those trams they have look pretty cool. And I don't suppose getting hold of weed would be too much trouble.
But I thought this thread was about the internet?
Or was your statement a subtle insult, calculated to offend me?
Well, I've got thicker skin than that, Stampy.
anyone ever get this kind of result in thailand?

Nowhere near that ... Have you upgraded? that's nearly twice the dl speed you were getting before.
