Does anyone know anything about the Klong Toey area of BKK? Not the place for a midnight stroll with 1000s of baht hanging out your pocket i hear. True?
I'd also like to ask if anyone has had any experience with a volunteer centre near BTS Ploen Chit Station (um, soi 3 off Ruamrudee) but im not sure if i cant name it on the forum.
Thanks.
huge market. use to live near by and have walked/ridden around the area a lot. not a place to safely involve yourself in extracuricular substance use or gambling. other than that its an interesting area.
There was a thread about that volunteer centre I think. It was a while back though. There was no bad reports and a couple of positive I think! Sorry to be vague, if you name the centre I'll know if we are on about the same place - I can't actually remember!
Excuse me for not taking this seriously .....
Its also a district of BKK when I lived on Soi 4 Sukumvit, I am sure it was Klong Toey. Its also the official name of the port of BKK in BKK. As Lam Chabang the deep water port is in Chon Buri.![]()

Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
Is this the Human Development Foundation. I have been thinking of volunteering myself but haven't looked into it yet.
Taiwantroll
Klong Toey district covers a huge area of Sukhumvit/Petchburi Roads - From Nana/Pratunam all the way to Ekkamai I believe and to the river on the other side.
Thanks heaps.
The volounteer place is called the Goodwill Foundation, just wasn't sure if the moderators allow naming schools or what.
Happy Songkran :chug:
Klong Toey is a dump.
When I was in America a guy told me to 'have a nice day' but I didn't, so I sued him
Klong Toey is a massive area. But when people refer to KT They usually mean the slum part. It used to be awash with drugs, not so much these days.
Yeah it's nowhere near as good as back in the day![]()

I used to lived there, in the slum of Klong Toey back when I was in the 6th and 7th grade, 72-73 ....by the rail road tracks and behind the big market.....walked to school...Plukjit Vitaya...oh! what a memory.
