I made a snippy comment to a certain self commisioned type on another thread which he responded to and he made me stop and think for a sec. Many years ago, I dedicated about 3 months of my life to a project that was lots of fun and made me feel good too. I organized about 200 office workers into a fundraising machine and we were able to refurbish and restore 7 broken down old bungalows in South Phoenix which were occupied by illegal aliens. There were about 30 families living in squalor and filth which would rival anything SE Asia has to offer. Peaceblondie knows the kind of "neighborhood" that I'm talking about. Anyway, the story about the fundraising isn't important. i really enjoyed doing it and I would like to think that at least for a short while we made a difference in those peoples lives. It is Christmas season and without getting religious at all(because I'm not at all), does anyone have any special plans to try to help someone less fortunate or to do something that they ordinarily don't have the time or inclination to do? Anybody have any ideas?
^^nice topic bruiser ..... I mean johnny![]()
Living in a developing country such as LOS I do often think about how nice it would be to improve the lives of the less fortunate.
At the moment I often give money and ciggarettes to an old guy who hangs around the train station , but doing something on a larger scale , I agree , would be rewarding......

I'm a Kerb Craft, road safety, volunteer at my son's Primary school. The little tykes are more interested in telling me about their new teeth than road safety. Bless 'em. The little one holding my left hand will say, 'I've got one new tooth'. The one in the right, 'I've got two'. One upmanship, a bit like us.
As, Wally mentioned, it is rewarding.

^^seriuosly , I plan to , if I can , make a difference in the lives of those who need it someday.
Whether it be putting a roof over the head of the guy at the station , or doing something on a larger scale , I really can't say at this stage in my life.
Does this mean I am selfish because I would find it personally rewarding? .... maybe ....... but it sure is nice puting smiles on faces of those who have had a rough trot in life.....
