The Real Fit Birds Thread
So I saw the ones on women in the pub and thought I would include one here on what I think we should focus on in the Development Forum:
The Real Fit Birds...here are some of them in their glorious splendor...these are all birds that are either indigenous to Thailand or were photographed in Thailand...
In Thailand, along the Thai-Malay border there are Minivets and Leafbirds, Robins, Shortwing, Stonechat, Shamas and Magpie Robin, Babblers and Phyloscopus Warblers, Flowerpeckers and Spiderhunters, and Pittas and Forktails.
They've also been put on stamps...
(Other nature and endangered species themes have also been put on Thai stamps by the way...)
And openbilled storks:
I think it's quite cool. Makes me want to go birdwatching...

Re: The Real Fit Birds Thread
Not!
And I don't like hula hoop nor teaching my students how to play American football.
We were talking about the lovely art of birdwatching, and how many beautiful birds there are to see in Thailand. I myself have seen a few hummingbirds since being here. More than I've ever seen back home.
Then there's pigeons...argh! But we won't talk about those...they're far from endangered.
I'm wondering how many people on the forum have actually ever gone bird-watching...

Re: The Real Fit Birds Thread
anybody ever been to one of these bird-singing contests?
In Malaysia (Kota Bahru) years back, I got around to see/hear one, but never managed to do so in Thailand. As far as I know, it's mainly down south... or

Re: The Real Fit Birds Thread
^ Bird singing contests, is that were you go and pick out the type of bird singing?
I've been to a wolf howling, but not the same thing I'd guess.
I've been bird watching a few times. It is soo hard to take pics of birds, before they fly away.
List of endangered birds of the world.
Have you seen any of these?

Re: The Real Fit Birds Thread
OK, guys and gals...that's 50 baht I put in the cup of a beggar child.
I counted five good posts, and like I said I'd do in the pub...10 baht for every positive post, or an article of food.
Nobody gave me a green...that would probably translate into taking a bum to dinner with me.

I've seen quite a few robins in the States. They're in no way endangered. I also saw quite a few robins in the States. They're all red with yellow beaks. Pretty birds. Also saw another bird...not sure if it's endangered...I didn't see the one on your map I think...but this one was all black, with red and yellow striping on its head.
...and of course the squirrels (I call 'em Jimbos) would always try to come and chase the birds away and steal all the food from the bird feeder. They'd always try to take the corn cobs and work their way up to the top and eat the seeds.

Re: The Real Fit Birds Thread
On the weekend, I went on a fall hike. I came across a Korean magpie, in the forest. The leaves were crunching under my feet, so I decided not to get to close. Here is as close as I could get without scaring it away. Beautiful bird!!
More about the magpie.
