An offer.....
After I've completed my TEFL course on 5th September, I have a strong likelyhood of not starting, or needing to start, work until the new term starts at the end of October. Obviously I need to find a job in this time but with my qualifications (PGCE and 2 years experience teaching in England) I don't forsee any problems.
I have the opportunity to volunteer at a couple of schools near Mae Sariang in Mae Hong Son province, as I did last summer, where I'd be working primarily with hill tribe kids and some immigrant Burmese. However, before committing to this, I'd like anyone able to offer me voluntary work to PM me or post on this thread any suggestions you may have. I'm thinking working with migrant children from Burma or orphans.

Re: An offer.....
You might be able to help an NGO mate, I think there is a list in the development forum. I would put it here but it's on my other computer

Isn't this the development forum, or are there others?
A search for NGO (I assume that's non-government organisation) brings up this thread and this thread which didn't seem to achieve much success.

Good on yer naboo.
I drove through a Burmese refugee camp just North of Mae Sot, and they need all the help they can get.
I thought it would be really interesting to spend a month voluntary teaching to help those guys out.
Was it relatively easy to sort out?

Re: An offer.....
The stuff in the north I wouldn't have been able to sort on my own. My friend's fiance's mother's friend is 'friends' (naughty naughty, gossip gossip) (confused yet?) with a headmaster in the area. Through that link, I got into another schoool to volunteer and during my time there, I met someone who was involved in some teacher training with regards to English language. She's invited me back to her school to work as well as working in a few schools closer to the border.
Haven't sorted the stuff in Vietnam yet, need to make a decision on the stuff in Mae Sarieng/Mae la Noi first.
