Burma relief effort volunteer...
Hi,
I'm living in Chiang Mai and was wondering if anyone on the forum knows if there is an organization here in Chiang Mai where I could volunteer to help?
I will check with my church tomorrow (Sacred Heart) but would work with any organization.

contact the Burma Volunteer Programme. they are on the net. they work with refugees in Thailand mostly doing English teaching. I got to taught in a refugee camp near Mae Sariang.
There are rumors (and an opinion) on, for example, Asia Times' website, that the U.S. conduct an invasion of Burma. Of course, this is merely one person's opinion, but I did read it on the Net.
I was going to say "Can the John Rambo" approach, but then I also read that these military junta generals are taking the donors' names off of the aid boxes/shipments, and putting their own names on them, as if they were the donators, and sending them off to the, what they hope are, the "ignorant public."

You can also go to any of the local go-go bars in Chiang Mai. They're mostly populated by Burmese, and you'll end up giving a boy or girl food and a job for a few days.
