I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am very new here. I have about 3 months to spend in Thailand. I used to be an english teacher back at home and I would like to do some voluntary work with what I can do best, In Thailand. Any ideas where I can apply? thanks

Try ECC or Siam Computer.
With your level of English, you'll feel right at home and the pay is so low you'll feel like you're working for nothing.
It depends on where you want to spend your time. Your best course of action would be to first decide on where you want stay for three months (in BKK, on the beach, in the back country or wherever) and then look for a local government school who'd like some free help. Also, when will you be in Thailand? We're heading into the summer break, so many schools will be out for many weeks.
If you are here during the summer, there are some agencies which use (and all that that implies) volunteers for their summer "camps". Keep an eye on the jobs board and something will pop up.

But then, I run across one of your posts and realize by comparison I am still pretty positive minded.
Man, you definitely are one cynical.........![]()

Oh, got sidelines there...
To the OP,
It's great that you're thinking of volunteering.
I've worked quite a bit with volunteers. I think you might want to determine for exactly how long you want to volunteer and for how many hours per day you are willing to work. that keeps things workable from both sides of the equation.
Best of luck

If you want to want to work for free you shouldn't have a problem. Try some whoa hoo village where you'll be a folk hero and get ass 'n weed for free.

mr el tel,
you have a strange sense of humour that may hurt and is bound to be misunderstood! Apologies for the inconvenience I caused. I thought this was a casual environment! Alas, I am among the native speakers and doomed to be humored!!!
Thanks to every one else for their help. I am planning to be there mid Feb. So I am afraid it will be the school holidays. I am also a scuba instructor, that's what I have been doing since I quit teaching eng. Apparently have forgotten some of my eng! Anyway, it would be nice to be close to the beach so I can do some dives at the same time. I can do any hours. I will figure something out, with your help guys. Thanks ever so much!
Good day

So let me get this straight, you're trying to steal our jobs right?

So you're offering to teach the survivors of the Tsunami?Originally Posted by selimeo
Yeah, I'm sure as they're trying to rebuild their houses, mourn family members, find jobs and just generally get their lives back in order, taking English lessons will be right at the top of their list.
Ahh, that explains it.Originally Posted by selimeo
