Where to go for a cold one in my neck of the woods?
When Dkinthailand first posted about pubs around the elephant building I thought he would be lucky to get an answer or two (i mean who would want to live out there! )
Anyway I was happy to see he did get some good information so I thought I would try it myself.
I live on Chareon Nakhorn rd (over the thaskin bridge and turn left) and was wanting to know the same thing. I just want a place where once a month I can take my newspaper and sit and read in peace or on the rare occassions I feel like socilaising have a chat with someone (thai or farang it doesn't matter). Decent food doesnt matter.
Any ideas? Even around Thaskin/surasak BTS would be interesting.
Hi reinvented, I actually go to school right on the corner of patpong and i can't stand the area which is why I am after something closer to home. As school finishes at 12 I also don't fancy a drink at that time (well I do but I have other work on) and couldn't be arsed to go home and then head all the way back in the afternoon/evening.
Thanks however for the suggestion

Greetings MM
I live just around the corner from you on Krungthon Rd and have been here for a number of years.
Certainly don't need to cross back over the bridge!!
There's lots of places in your road...all Thai of course.(Not many of us 'visitors' live over here)
I normally go to Na Ti Thip Restaurant which has very friendly staff; cold beer and excellent food at a reasonable price and u can take the powers-that-be. It's just off CN Rd on the way to The Mall Tha Phra. If ur on ur tod, then one of the myriad of karaoke bars might fit the bill.
Cheers
KM
Actually you were the first person who planted the seed in my brain about living in this area when I first made the decision to move here - good to hear from you again.
I go to the mall every now and then so will keep and eye out for it. After I turn off CN onto Krungthon rd, how far approx and on which side as any suggestion is better then nothing! Is it the sort of place that I can sit down with a newspaper and a cold one and not look out of place?

I stayed here some years ago by soi 14, and there was a small Thai pub /bar on the corner that did cocktails, beer and showed football as well as serving food. Not a girl bar but a straight up pub that I would spend a few hours in of an evening eyeing up the cute waitress.

It looks like it's time to come clean about Rugby training marmite. Although I love watching Rugby and at times I can look likea rugby player I have never actually played a game, even in fun in my life!
If I got the ball I would probebly take it and run, bounce it a few times slot it through the sticks and then complain why they didn't give me 6 points!
