Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
I went to this music place with a nice lady from the T.A.T.
- met her after work.
It was not too far from Lumpini park I think - a live band playing
music.
Anyway we had a bottle of regency with cokes,
and a couple of food snacks.
When we leave I ask the waiter for the checkbin while the
T.A.T. lady went to the john - but I was told checkbin lao
- apperently she had already paid it.
Then in the taxi she tells me the bill was almost Bt1700
and chould I please refund her now.
It seemed a bit strange, but I did not argue with her...she was
distracting me :-)
Anyway I'm just curious if she really padded the bill.
I was on holiday - left thailand yesterday.
She did. The stuff is less than 400 baht a bottle. But if you were opposite Lumpini that could very well be the price. Those places are very high end. On soi Sarasin.
It is Thai whiskey with added caramel.
It is not Brandy and it is not VSOP.
I bought a bottle and did not take more than one sip. I gave it to some Thai employees who looked at it and laughed.
A half bottle cost me less than 200 baht but in a rip off bar it could cost more. 1700 baht seems excessive but then again when I have been drunk I have had much bigger bills, admittedly for better quality booze though.
A friend once spent 5,000 on a meal he thought was 1,000 as he did not check the menu properly!
its well expensive man. drink sangsom if your guna splash out.
if not loa kaoh, 35b a bottle gets you steaming.
for taste mix it 50/50 with red fanta, or coke.
i met two blokes from doncaster who took these two birds out, he ordereda lobster, and thought it was 500b it turned out to be 5000b LOL!!!
If you are gonna drink get something that is not gonna damage your liver or make you go blind.Originally Posted by cassbhoy1888

I can't be mad at her - it was still a fun evening, but I'll probably not look her up next time.Originally Posted by Mister Fixit

We were in a pub earlier in the evening drinking Singha's
- as I said she was very thirsty
She also keapt wanting to take me to patpong - perhaps hoping to score a commision,
but then we ended up going to this music place instead.
Where she got another commission, no doubt, and also a helluva mark-up on your bill. I reckon she'd have made a grand out of that.Originally Posted by DakLing
